What is the Pierre Andrès Museum?

The Pierre Andrès Museum houses about forty ‘Machines Singulières’ (Singular Machines), each with a different mechanism for you to try out. These ‘strange machines’, made entirely of wood, feature highly sophisticated techniques. They are as surprising in their beauty as they are in their creator's concern for education.
Pierre ANDRÈS (1922-2011) studied Fine Arts in Lyon and Paris before becoming a teacher in the Lot region. These two experiences enabled him to create an original work in which you can exercise your curiosity as well as your skill. Adults will love it, and children will quickly get to grips with it! This is a museum for having fun.

The museum is housed in a double barn built of white Quercy stone, a heritage site in the hamlet of Péjuscla in the commune of Villesèque, 18 km from Cahors. Road signs will guide you; the museum is listed on the internet and on a hot sunny day, the coolness of this barn-museum will surprise you!

An association under the 1901 law, ‘Les Amis de Pierre Andrès’ (Friends of Pierre Andrès), manages the museum. Its Board of Directors is made up of people who knew Pierre Andrès. The volunteers who welcome you do so mainly in July and August - with the exception of small groups in the spring.

You should always make an appointment by calling 06 74 35 35 58. - although from the 1st to the 15th of August we plan to be open every day from 3 pm to 6 pm. Every summer, around 1st of August, we organise an event featuring an exhibition by an artist from the Lot, an open-air buffet and a show (see the ‘News’ section).
